Organic farming is the most viable form of green farming. Green Chicken farming is farming in a way of farming that is friendly to the planet – most forms of intensive farming today damage the planet and environment – sometimes in irreversible ways. A well built chicken house will help the earth. Toxins, fertilisers and medication all work their way into our groundwater and river systems. Top soil is washed away carrying a deadly mix of chemical that harm our planet and also our health. GMO, and intensive farming techniques are damaging mother earth in ways that we do not even know about. Chicken houses are not designed with the earth, or the chickens, or humans in mind. They are built and designed with one thing in mind – PROFIT. Organic chickens and free range chickens are a good step forward – but can be improved in many ways. Intensive egg farming produces many eggs but the quality as a food source is questionable. What you feed organic chickens is vital – and is part of the cycle of green chicken farming.
Organic chickens need special attention as does organic farming. You need to bear in mind how you build your chicken houses as green farming is a whole earth principle – not just concerned with you and your property – it takes into account the supply chain and of course puts the earth first and profit second. Green chicken farming will also make use of solar panels and solar fans – alternative energy is a must if you want to be called green. Solar power is one of the best ways of generating energy for a poultry house – while it will not help you heating requirements – a gas heater is the best option for warming a chicken house, it will solve all the lighting and some of the cooling issues.
